Know your customers: Suzuki

"More than a fifth of Suzukis are more than 10 years old"

Suzuki has still to make its mark with fleets. Only 2.62% of the total parc of 326,934 have corporate drivers.

However, the carmaker does seem to have found favour with woman drivers. They own 41.49% of the Suzukis on UK roads.

Suzuki represents 0.872% of UK registered vehicles which makes it the 20th most favoured make by UK consumers.

Manual transmission is easily the most popular choice in the UK at 88.55%. Almost half (45.73%) are estate models and 30.9% are five-door hatchbacks.

The top 10 locations to see Suzukis are: Sheffield, Birmingham, Newcastle Upon Tyne, Peterborough, Swansea, Nottingham, Portsmouth, Glasgow, Edinburgh and Cardiff.

Together these locations contain 18.64% of all UK Suzukis.

The most popular model is the Suzuki Swift, making up 23.05% of the UK Suzuki market, followed by the Suzuki Grand Vitara with 17.87% and the Suzuki Vitara with 10.83%.

The top two favoured colours are blue (23.39%) and silver/aluminium (19.58%), followed by red (17.83%) and black (11.46%).

More than a fifth (21.53%) are more than 10 years old with only 12.95% being less than 24 months old. (see full age breakdown).

The most popular engine size with Suzuki buyers is between 1,150 and 1,549cc which is the choice of 44.41% of owners followed by 1,550 and 1,949cc (25.03%), less than 1,149 cc (18.86%) and more than 1,950cc (11.70%).

Most Suzukis are classed as either superminis (41.69%) or small 4x4s (40.91%).

Just 11.67% of Suzuki owners have private plates on their vehicle.
