Scrappage - about as welcome as a fox in a chicken coup

The Treasury, it's really not warming to proposals for a scrappage scheme in this country. In fact, it is giving off about as much warmth as a curry left over from the night before, left outside in a blizzard in Siberia.

Any UK Government plans to help the British automotive sector must focus on manufacturing and not retailing, believes Prof. Rhys who says it could be 2013 before full recovery is attained and added, "nurturing of the UK auto sector in these conditions becomes an economic imperative."
