Citroen UK

Citroen has shown steady sales growth since 2011 which has been critical in staying ahead of Hyundai and Kia, which are nipping at the brand's heels in the sales charts.

Growth of more than 6% last year came mainly from three highly successful new car launches – Grand C4 Picasso, C1 and C4 Cactus.

The impact of the DS range has also been inspired, capturing a whole army of buyers who might otherwise have been lost to rivals.

The DS 3 continues its run as the most popular choice for buyers across the Citroën and DS ranges, with 19,977 sales last year, including the cabriolet.

A series of management changes at the end of last year, including the appointment of Stéphane Le Guével as director general of PSA Peugeot Citroën UK, is designed to maintain growth momentum in 2015.

Note: Manufacturers administer the franchised contracts for cars and LCVs in different ways. Broadly, for some the contract to sell cars and LCVs is managed through a separate dealer contract. For others one contract covers both vehicle types.

AMi seeks to acknowledge the difference and reflect it in the count of each dealer groups total franchised outlets (franchised businesses) and sites (locations).

Citroen administers car and LCV sales under a single contract.

Mini UK

Mini recorded record sales in the UK in 2014 with orders totalling 53,661 units.

Growth was relatively sedate, at 3.3%, but still represents a new record and the market share of 2.17% is the highest for the brand anywhere in the world, despite recent decline as the market has become more fragmented.

The 3-door hatch is the brand's biggest seller, but the new new five-door has yet to have a full year in the market.

Mini is working hard to educate future buyers that Mini is more than a single model, with products in every major segment, including the all-important SUV offering.

Mercedes-Benz UK

Mercedes-Benz broke new ground last year as it achieved 5% market share in the latest stage of its ambition to become the number one premium brand in the UK car market and eventually the world’s best-selling premium brand.

In percentage terms, its sales growth of nearly 15% beat its German rivals, but when it comes to units sold, Mercedes-Benz only managed to close the gap on BMW with nearly 15,000 additional sales beating 13,000 for BMW, but falling behind Audi's growth of nearly 17,000 units.

However, with greater availability of the A-Class, sales could rise further in 2015, while nearly every segment has a launch by the brand, including the S-Class cabriolet, GLC SUV, BMW X6 rival GLE, B-Class electric drive and V-Class.
