Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg MP is due to visit a firm which is researching ways to use hydrogen as fuel.

The party’s Shadow Chancellor, Vince Cable MP, will join the leader during a trip to ITM Power’s factory in Sheffield on Thursday. (October 23)

The firm is researching ways to use hydrogen as a fuel for cars, trucks and buses as well as a clean alternative power for homes, offices and factories.

ITM already has a Ford Focus which runs on hydrogen and therefore produces no harmful emissions when the fuel burnt.

The MPs will also see how a Home Refuelling Station works which allows householders to produce hydrogen and be self-sufficient and independent of the national grid.
