Demand for trade cars in the used market remains high despite negative factors impacting the sector.

Used car trade prices have softened slightly in the last few weeks and there is more lower valued trade stock available due to the end of the scrappage scheme.

But Gavin Smith, director, Dealer-Auction Ltd, the number of trade cars meeting the reserve prices and selling is increasing week on week as main dealers recognise the profit opportunity and benefits of auctioning their trade stock online to a trade only audience.

"We have also seen a recent surge of trade registrations over the last couple of months as more trade buyers sign up," he said.

"This is a sign of buyers becoming more confident in bidding for cars which are only being offered by franchised dealers."

The Leicestershire-based business has also just auctioned its 10,000 trade car for franchised dealers after its launch in January 2009.
