Audi UK has taken action to simplify its product range in response to requests from dealers and product managers.

Head of PR Jon Zammett told AM the brand had identified around 800 different versions of its new car models, and had begun the action with the aim of halving this.

One example, he said, was the 3.0-litre TFSI petrol engined A6. It represented just 1% of A6 sales, so has been deleted.

There are now no petrol models in the A6 range, except for the halo S6 car.

The few customers who had previously chosen the 3.0-litre petrol could be guided towards the new 313bhp 3.0-litre bi-turbodiesel, Zammett suggested.
