Networking groups and local businesses in Warwickshire are able to take advantage of a brand new conference venue to host their meetings, events and corporate presentations.

Listers Volkswagen at Leamington Spa is inviting business groups to utilise its conference facilities free of charge.

The new service at the Volkswagen site is available for breakfast and evening meetings from Monday to Friday.

Phil Smart, brand manager at Listers Volkswagen, believes it’s important to work with the local business community, where possible.

“As we are open long hours it seemed a logical solution to extend our services and offer our support to local companies.”

“We look forward to introducing our new services to the surrounding businesses and welcoming our new guests,” added Smart.

The private conference room features a projector on request and an LCD screen and can accommodate ten people, while the showroom can be used for larger gatherings of up to 25 guests, with complimentary teas and coffees provided.

Listers Group

Proudly a family business - “makes us more human to deal with” compared to a plc, the group’s website claims - the Warwickshire based company was started by Terry Lister, now managing director, in 1979 when he opened his first dealership.

It now has 40 centres representing 10 brands, Audi, BMW Honda, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Seat, Skoda, Smart, Toyota (cars and vans) and Volkswagen (cars and vans). An Xtra brand sells on part-exchanged vehicles through six centres.

A training centre at Stratford-upon-Avon ensures all staff are instilled with the family ‘business, not plc’ ethos. A customer liaison team makes over 100,000 calls a year to gauge staff performance.

An emphatic test drive policy sees Listers have more than £15 million of stock on hand for customers to try at any one time.

The Lister’s website says of the group: “As the major automotive PLC groups battle for profits to support shareholders, vying to buy or take over each other in the process, Listers remains proudly independent. Our simple philosophy, firmly centred around customer care and satisfaction, has served us well for over 30 years. We see no reason to change it now.

“Call into any one of over 40 Listers centres, enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee, take a look around, enjoy a test drive and chat to any member of our team. Hopefully you’ll become a member of the Listers extended family soon.”

Volkswagen UK

The third-biggest player in the UK car market, Volkswagen has seen its share decline slightly in the past few years despite increasing its registrations.

With 196,000 registrations in 2013, Volkswagen almost matched its previous best year of 2007 and is in with a chance of improving on that in 2014, although its market share this year is running slightly behind last year’s 8.57%.

Prospects in 2015 look better with an all-new Passat on the new Volkswagen Group MQB small and medium car platform.

The facelifted Scirocco has just been introduced and the Touareg also benefits from a nip and tuck for 2015.

Volkswagen added two electric cars to the range in 2014, the E-Up and the E-Golf, and zero emission options will be joined by an ultra-low emission Golf GTE plug-in hybrid in 2015, offering 204bhp with an expected CO2 rating of 35g/km.

Note: Manufacturers administer the franchised contracts for cars and LCVs in different ways. Broadly, for some the contract to sell cars and LCVs is managed through a separate dealer contract. For others one contract covers both vehicle types.

AMi seeks to acknowledge the difference and reflect it in the count of each dealer groups total franchised outlets (franchised businesses) and sites (locations).

Volkswagen treats car and LCV sales as coming under separate contracts –AMi counts each individually.
