The Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) has produced an impressive new online resource for careers and academic professionals: HUBcap.

Accessed via its Autocity website, HUBcap is a one-stop-shop for information about careers in the retail motor industry.

Fully funded by the UK Commission for Employment and Skills (UKCES), it forms a key part of the IMI’s strategy to attract bright, young and enthusiastic talent into the sector.

With a comprehensive database of ‘Key Fact Sheets’ covering the different sub-sectors of the industry, HUBcap also includes apprenticeship figures, labour market information broken down by region and online forums.

The IMI’s head of professional development, Lesley Woolley, commented: “For many, the automotive retail sector is not seen as a career of choice. Outdated perceptions among careers advisors and teaching professionals perpetuate this view.

“Through HUBcap we hope to change these perceptions, by giving individuals who help guide young people in their career choices the necessary tools to understand and promote the opportunities available.”
