John Clark Motor Group has appointed David Holmes as non-executive director.

Holmes joined the business at the start of October and will serve for an initial period of two years.

Holmes managed his own BMW and Mini dealership between 2005 and 2010 and he was also with Sytner Group in management and dealer principal roles for more than 10 years.

The appointment follows the group’s recent announcement of a 15% increase in the group’s turnover to £354m and vehicle sales for September 2013 rose by 36% to more than 3,000 units.

John Clark, chairman and managing director of the John Clark Motor Group, said: “David’s dealership and manufacturer background will enable him to contribute a comprehensive insight at board level and thereby influence our future strategy.

“The skills, expertise and experience he acquired will be invaluable.  It means he will not only be able to empathise with the challenges and opportunities our dealer teams face but will also assist with the development of solutions.

“His vast industry experience, depth of knowledge and understanding mean that he will add value; his contribution will be extremely important as we continue to develop and grow the business.”

While at Sytner Group, Holmes was appointed to the company’s main board as communications director, responsible for IT, training, HR and marketing, prior to becoming the divisional managing director for Sytner’s Daimler Chrysler division.

John Clark acquired four Pendragon dealerships earlier this year and has started an £8m investment programme for the group’s dealerships. https://www.am-online.com/news/2013/6/24/john-clark-motor-group-acquires-pendragon-dealerships/33149/
