Independent repairer, Caroline’s Cars, in Norwich is celebrating 10 years in business with a focus on creating a female friendly service environment and the business is now looking to franchise the idea across the UK.

Caroline Lake started the business with two friends after working as a qualified MoT tester following four years as an unpaid apprentice at another garage.

She decided to launch her businesses after hearing how women felt patronised by male mechanics.

The majority of her service team are women and while the business does have a male technician and accepts customers regardless of gender, the business is focussed on creating a friendly environment for women in particular.

Lake told the Daily Mail she hopes to have test centres and garages across the UK under the Caroline’s Cars name.

There is already a website dedicated to helping women find female friendly dealerships in the UK called Foxy’s Good Garage Guide.
