Car supermarket Cargiant has reported record results for 2013, with pre-tax profit up by 69% to £30.2 million, on turnover up by 31% to £398m.

The performance was boosted by Cargiant increasing sales of used cars, including vehicles sold at auction, by 16% to a record 47,600 last year

And the London-based company’s turnover increased by 20% over the eight months to August 31, 2014.

Tony Mendes, managing director of Cargiant, said: “Cargiant’s record results last year were driven by its relentless focus on value pricing, customer service and product quality, as well as further investments in staffing levels and integrated IT systems."

The company stocks up to 7,000 cars, including 2,000 on display, at its site in North West London.

Cargiant also delivered a strong rise in its operating margin from 6.2% to 7.7% last year.

Cargiant has submitted planning permission for the construction of three multi-storey car parks at its Old Oak Common site in London for the storage of vehicles.

Since it was founded in 1977, Cargiant has sold over 650,000 to UK customers. Cargiant operates from a 45-acre site in North West London, which includes a 34-acre car dealership.
