BBC Formula 1 presenter Suzi Perry and face of the IMI's Professional Register will speak at the AM & IMI People Conference on June 12.

As well as promoting the register, Suzi will also talk about the value apprentices add to an organisation and the need for teamwork which she will illustrate with examples from her current role reporting from the F1 pit for BBC One.

Perry said: “I was very excited when the IMI approached me to ask if I would like to help promote their professional register - I hear so many horror stories about motorists being ripped off and I think that a lot of women still find that maintaining their vehicles can be quite a daunting affair - With this in mind, any solution which can help alleviate this is certainly worthy of any support I can provide.”

Perry will take to the stage at the conference which takes place on June 12, 2014 at the Royal Garden Hotel, Kensington, London, before the magazine’s prestigious AM100 Dinner.

Perry said: “The IMI’s Register then allows us to direct people to the many outstanding individuals I know are out there offering a fantastic service to motorists when professional support is needed.

"In fact, I think that being able to look at a professional list and chose a trusted professional will take away many concerns people have about buying or maintaining their vehicles.

“Personally, if I was getting my own vehicle repaired, I would want to know that the technician was skilled, qualified and up to date with the latest procedures and technology - as much as I would expect good honest working terms. The Professional Register covers all of these points and offers a wide range of businesses and individuals in each area.”

Eligibility for the Professional Register requires individuals to have the right level of qualification, membership or hold a current accreditation.

The live, customer facing register currently has over 40,000 industry professionals on it, although IMI aims to have 200,000 by the end of 2017.
