Planning permission has been granted for a new HR Owen car showroom and aftersales facility near Manchester Airport.

HR Owen has been given permission to change the use of part of Unit 4, Brooke Park, Handforth to create a car showroom and motor vehicle service/repair garage (including MoT testing) with ancillary offices.

Part of the 50-space car park would be turned into a forecourt display.

The luxury car dealer told a local newspaper it has not yet made a decision as to which marque will take the space or whether it will be a showroom or aftersales facility.

However it is known that HR Owen plans to relocate its Lamborghini Manchester dealership, which it opened in 2004 at Stockport. There are proposals to redevelop that site into an office scheme.

The plans for the vacant Brooke Park site also include an extension on the 2,061 square metre building to provide 1,621 sqm of additional floorspace.

Brooke Park is a development of eight industrial warehouse buildings, built over two phases dating back to 1999/2000.

The estate is owned by Nottinghamshire County Council Pension Fund and is managed by Aberdeen Asset Management.

Terms for a new lease to HR Owen have been agreed with the landlord.
