Volkswagen will be taking orders for its all-new eighth generation Passat Saloon and Estate models, from October 7.

Prices will start from £22,215 for the basic model and specification, rising to £37,035.00 for the R-Line 2.0-litre 237bhp diesel, with seven-speed DSG transmission.

The model is only available as a diesel in the UK; variants include a 1.6-litre producing 118bhp, two 2.0-litre units with 148bhp or 187bhp, and a 2.0-litre bi-turbo boasting 237bhp.

A BlueMotion with a 1.6-litre engine returning 78mpg and emitting just 95g/km of CO2 will join the range in June 2015, while an Alltrack version of the Estate is due in July.

The all-new Passat will feature a host of new technologies across five trim levels; S, SE, SE Business, GT and R-Line including Post-Collision Braking System and mis-fuelling prevention on all, Front Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Pre-Crash system, Driver Profile Selection, Ergo Comfort seats and front and rear parking sensors on SE and above and Discover Navigation on the SE Business which is aimed at fleet drivers.

The GT specification includes heated Alcantara seats, three-zone climate control and 18-inch wheels as standard, while the range-topping R-Line adds a host of bespoke design features – with a range of add-ons available.

A plug-in hybrid GTE version with a 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine and electric motor will follow in October 2015.
