John Banks Limited has announced that it is the newest name in Cambridge for Renault and Dacia sales, servicing and parts.

The acquisition from Richard West of ‘Wests’ will see the Swann Road dealership knocked down to make way for a new state-of-the-art showroom. It will temporarily trade from the sales facility at 217 Newmarket Road for 12 weeks while the build is completed. The site at Newmarket Road is planned for demolition in the near future.

Existing staff will remain at the sites so former Renault customers will have the ability to deal with their regular contacts whilst facilities and offers will be improved by the team at John Banks.

The group already manage Honda and Suzuki franchises and the addition of Renault and Dacia will further strengthen the company’s portfolio.

Chief executive Melanie Banks-Browne said: “This has been a difficult time for a take-over as we have had to deal with the Christmas break and have ultimately had some unforeseen delays due to timescales available but we are now pleased that we are “in” on site and have acquired a great team of staff whose knowledge and experience spans hundreds of years between them! We are in the process of putting in new computer and data systems, new training and development and are now recruiting for more staff to join the existing strong team.”

Managing director Mark Banks said: “Our existing workshop facilities in Cheddars Lane is a fantastic facility right next to Tesco that offers all makes service, repair and MOT work and with the new site at Swann Road having the commercial facility for vans and Class7 MOT we have the ability now to deal with all levels of vehicles.”
