Autorola is celebrating its 10th year working with Peugeot and its dealer network.

In the last five years alone 14,000 of the French manufacturers cars and light vans have been sold through its online portal.

Peugeot was one of the very first manufacturers to sell cars online in the UK and its early adopter approach has built up a strong online following with buyers.

Importantly the average price of used vehicles bought and sold online has increased by more than 10% to £8,452 over the past 10 years and price performance has consistently averaged 104% of both CAP and Glass’s.

In countries like Japan, virtually all used vehicles are sold online as they do not have the space for physical auctions and in the UK times are changing with physical auction providers offering vehicles online.

Autorola UK sales director Jon Mitchell said: “Online sales are steadily growing in the UK and we have noticed more dealer groups, leasing and rental companies using online to buy or sell used vehicles.

“These Peugeot figures show that online values have continued to rise and average performance against the key residual value guides has been very consistent. The Peugeot product has also grown from strength to strength which has made its used cars more desirable to both franchise and non-franchise dealers.

“Online has really started to change both vendor and buyer perceptions. All remarketing suppliers have had to stay in touch with the concept of change, including the physical auction providers and those that don’t change in the coming years will simply disappear.”
