Preston and Blackburn-based car dealer Bowker Motor Group's marketing manager has beaten off competition from more than 140 approved Mini centres to be crowned the best marketeer in the UK.

Marketing manager Amy Uphill (pictured centre) was announced as the winner of the Mini Marketeer of the Year 2014 award at the Mini Oscars in Oxford. The awards were presented by TV presenter Jonathan Ross.

She had previously been short-listed for the award three times.

Uphill said: "Bowker Mini has enjoyed a fantastic year. And this national award is a wonderful endorsement of the marketing team’s hard work."

Last year featured launches of the new three-door Mini hatch in March and the new five-door hatch - following a world première - in October. Last year’s Bowker drive-out events attracted more than 300 Mini owners.

Bowker Mini's social media engagement increased using innovative campaigns. The group created a unique, serialised photo love story where two staff battled for a Mini’s affections. In the same period Bowker Mini turnover increased by more than 10%.

Paul Bowker, chief executive of Bowker Motor Group, said: "I know how much work Amy and the marketing team put into our campaigns. If it was down to me, I’d give them the award every year.”
