Mazda is aiming to expand its range of crossover models with a new SUV concept car to be shown at the Frankfurt motor show next month.

The Koeru is likely to evolve into a replacement for the CX-7 model, which was discontinued a few years ago.

Although no details on engines and specification are available at present, it is likely that a production version would use a 2.2-litre Skyactiv diesel, and square off against the forthcoming Ford Edge, the Hyundai Santa Fe and Land Rover Discovery Sport.
