MG sales hit record levels in 2015, with more new cars being sold in the first three months of this year than in the whole of 2013.

Official figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) show that the industry grew by an average of 6.75% in the first three months of 2015. MG’s results show a 57.33% increase - the best first quarter since the new MG Motor UK company was formed.

MG’s head of marketing Matthew Cheyne said: “By any standards our performance over the past year or so has been staggering – and that’s before we launch the highly-competitive new MG6 which starts at only £13,995.

“Our volumes may be still small, but we are now building rapidly and there is a real buzz behind the brand.

“Our customers are delighted with the new products we are bringing to market and they are our greatest ambassadors. We now have customers proudly showing off their new MGs to friends and neighbours and there is a real feeling of pride and confidence in the brand.

“Just like the fast-selling MG3, the new MG6 is a big leap forward and will attract even more business and fleet buyers to the brand alongside retail buyers. It’s thrilling to see MG bouncing back.”

The dealer network has been more than doubled in just over a year and MG recently announced the formation of a Task Force to find and appoint another 30 dealers in key open ‘hot spots’ across Britain.
