All 250 staff of Mercedes-Benz dealer group Greenoaks, which has just been taken over by Vertu Motors, are due to meet their new senior leadership team this evening.

Vertu's chief executive Robert Forrester and fellow directors will join the employees from the acquired Mercedes dealerships at Ascot, Reading and Slough for a welcome evening at Reading's Majeski Stadium.

Ahead of the event, Forrester told AM he will tell the new colleagues how delighted he is with the new businesses.

One aim is to avoid any upheaval - with the transaction completing at the beginning of the key plate-change campaign, he said the leadership team must ensure their colleagues in each location remain focused on maximising March's sales.

"We think this is a good business, and one we think we can improve the results of," he said.

"Now we have to put our systems in, make sure we drive performance improvements and build on the best things they do - they have a very strong aftersales performance."

One of Vertu's group operations directors will be based at Reading for the next three months to oversee the transition.

Forrester said Vertu plans to put significant investment into updating the Reading dealership over the next 18 months, however the Slough and Ascot sites are both up-to-date.
