Vospers has acquired a 9.5 acre development site in Exeter as it prepares to submit a planning application for a new FordStore.

The proposed site, at Exeter’s Matford Green Business Park is set to be one of Ford’s 68-strong network of UK FordStores, which specialise in the sale of the new premium Vignale models and new performance cars like the Mustang and Focus RS, according to a report by Insider Media.

The plans will also include additional showrooms to relocate a number of Vospers' other franchises and a specialist Transit Centre, it said.

Recent deals at the same Exeter business park have seen VW, Lexus, Toyota, Audi and Jaguar Land Rover dealerships added to the area’s automotive presence.

Vospers' banking partner Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking provided a seven-figure funding package to support the purchase of the new site, said Insider Media.

Plymouth-based Vospers, which currently operates its Exeter Ford franchise from a site at Marsh Barton Industrial Estate, currently boasts a portfolio of 32 franchised outlets and employed 684 staff according to the most recent reports delivered via AMi.

In 2014 the business recorded a £261 million turnover and profit before tax of £3.18 million.
