TrustFord’s third annual One Penny Auction has raised £7,000 for official charity partner, Cancer Research UK.

A brand new Ford Transit Courier 1.5 Duratorq TDCi 75ps went under the hammer with a starting price of just 1p on eBay in the event, which got underway during December.

Launched at midnight on December 2nd and closed at 23:59 on December 9th, the auction attracted thousands of bids as the price rose to £7,000 – well under its £15,000 list price.

Kim Ambrose, from Falmouth, Cornwall, secured himself a bargain as winner of the auction, securing free livery for his Ground Working business as part of the package.

Ambrose said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have won the auction. The van will be used to transport tools and equipment for my ground working business, which I run with my son Ben.

“The Transit Courier is well-known for being reliable and efficient, and is going to be a real asset to my business.”

TrustFord’s head of marketing, Julia Greenhough, who leads the TrustFord partnership with Cancer Research UK, said: “This is a wonderful result, and we’re delighted to be able to support Cancer Research UK‘s vital work.

“This is our third One Penny Auction and over the last three years the event has helped us raise over £40,000 in much needed funding.

“We’re looking forward to the year ahead when our colleagues will be taking part in a variety of fun and creative ways to raise money for this amazing organisation.”
