Luscombe’s Leeds has seen used car sales increase by 34.8% in its year end results and says the business has been boosted by a recent string of industry award wins.

Turnover increased by 4.9% to £26.8 million and managing director Robin Luscombe said the used car increase made up for a reduction in fleet business.

Average return on sales (ROS) across the business was 4.6%, an increase from 3.6% the year before and the business has seen a net profit increase of 21%.

The business sold 865 new cars and 1,034 cars over its financial year. Aftersales turnover increased by 7.6% to £2.9m.

Luscombe’s has so far this year picked up the ‘Best Use of Video’ award at the AM Awards in February, where they were also shortlisted for Best Dealer Website, Best Use of Social Media and Excellence in Customer Service.

Luscombe’s was also highly commended in the Click Awards in June this year in the Best Performing Retailer category.

Luscombe said: “We strive hard to offer the best experience for our customers and being honoured by the motor trade at all their national award ceremonies is confirmation for us that we are doing the best we can.

“We have had a major focus on enhancing our video in the past year to make our customer experience even more engaging.”

Luscombe said the award wins demonstrate the company’s philosophy of not selling, but helping people to buy, backed up by straight talking sales staff and managers who come out of the office.

Luscombe said: “Video works really well for us throughout our marketing and fits perfectly with our emphasis on delivering a transparent and personal service to our customers who feature in some videos giving their first-hand experience.”
