Vertu has extended the opening hours at its Bristol Hyundai showroom to 10pm as it celebrates the completion of a £330,000 refurbishment and the appointment of a new branch manager.

Renovation works at the  Bristol Street Motors facility on St Philips Causeway, Avon Meads, included the installation of charging points, which will allow visitors to refuel their electric and hybrid vehicles when visiting the site and the installation of efficient lighting and air conditioning in a bid to go green.

The site’s new general manager, Terry Thurgood, who was recently promoted from the post of sales manager at the site, said: “Bristol is known as one of the most ecologically-conscious cities in the UK and was a European Green Capital in 2015, so naturally a lot of our customers are interested in more economical and environmentally friendly models.

“The installation of electric vehicle charging points and the green credentials of the refurbishment will allow us to support the city’s ethos.”

A special two-day-long opening event, from September 15, will see opening hours extended to 10pm so that customers can visit to see the dealership and enjoy casino-style games alongside refreshments.

There will also be a Family Test Track where children will be able to race each other on a remote control vehicle track, with the winner taking home the equipment.

They will also be able to enjoy a tech area, which showcases Hyundai’s latest in-car technology, including innovative Apple Play equipment.

Thurgood said: “I am really excited to be taking the next step in my career with Bristol Street Motors at such an important time for the dealership.

“The business has put a lot of resources into enhancing the site for both colleagues and customers.

“It’s definitely money well spent because it looks fantastic and the improvements really allow us to demonstrate the full range and capability that Hyundai has to offer.”
