Firs Garage Mitsubishi in Hook Norton has lent the organisers of the Chipping North Literary Festival an Outlander PHEV to transport the likes of David Baddiel, Lee Child and Sheila Hancock.

The literary festival, which takes place from April 23-26, will host a variety of writers from a range of genres, with 3,000 people due to attend events at venues across the Cotswold market town.

Festival volunteer Chris Hogan will be driving the plug-in hybrid vehicle and making sure the writers are all in the right place at the right time.

Hogan said: “Firs Garage was a natural choice because they are so close to Chipping Norton and it’s great that they have responded to our plea for help. The festival is in its third year now and it’s getting bigger each year so this will be a great help. We wanted a vehicle that would transport four adults with their luggage in comfort, and the fact the Outlander PHEV is a 4x4 means it will cope whatever the weather. It’s also an incredibly eco-friendly vehicle, so that helps us reduce the environmental impact of the festival.”

Sonya Wood, of Firs Garage, said: “The festival is such a super event for the local area that we are delighted to be able to help. Chipping Norton is a stone’s throw from our dealership and we are committed to helping the local area. The Outlander PHEV will be the perfect vehicle for chauffeuring the authors to where they need to be.”
