A respected industry chairman has passed away suddenly on the 10th of May, 2015. Tim Richardson started working for Jos Richardson & Son Ltd in 1966 aged 17 delivering coal. In 1978 he bought Glews Garage and to built the business into a sucessful motor, fuel and convenience retailer. He was 65.

The business is now a £50m turnover company with 2 car dealerships and 5 filling stations, employing over 110 people.

In 2004 he was joined in the business by his son Joseph and in 2011 by his daughter Jane, the 5th generation of the family to work in the business.

As well as contributing to the local business economy he played an active role in the local community. He was chairman of local regeneration partnership Boothferry enterprise 2000, a member of the Chamber of Commerce serving as president in Goole and a director in Hull and a valued member of the Goole Rotary Club, of which he was a past president.

In 2013 he stepped down as managing director of his family business and handed the reins over to Joseph. However, he was still involved in the business as chairman. In 2014 he won the lifetime achievement award from the Goole and Howdenshire business awards for his contribution to business.

His funreal will be held at Howden Minster, on Friday 22 May at 12.30 pm.

He will be sorely missed by his family, employees past and present and the business community.
