Former Parachute Regiment soldier Richard Mann has been appointed general manager at Swansway Garages' Crewe Volkswagen operation.

Mann, who has worked across the Crewe-based AM100 dealer group’s premium franchises, was previously employed as business manager.

After landing his new role, he is keen to embrace the latest challenge in a varied career. He said: “I started off my career in the Parachute Regiment and from there I’ve had a number of career changes, ranging from chip shop owner to financial adviser.

“Then I found the motor trade and I haven’t looked back, working for some great brands, including Audi and Land Rover, before beginning my role at Crewe Volkswagen.”

Mann said that he was happy to have made himself an integral part of Swansway, highlighting its appeal as a family-owned business.

He said: “I liked the idea of being part of an organisation where the directors are so approachable, and my new role proves I made the right choice.

“Of course I’d like to make it right to the top and become a head of business, but I’m also very conscious of the work/life balance and I want to be as happy at work as I am at home; so far, so good on that score.”
