Lookers has promoted Andy Bruce to the role of managing director of its motor division.

Bruce, previously the group's operations director, takes a role left vacant since previous incumbent Peter Jones was promoted to chief executive.

Bruce will now be responsible for Lookers' franchised dealerships and will work closely with its franchise directors to focus on divisional performance and strategic development.

Lookers' chief executive Peter Jones said, “Andy’s new appointment is testament to the last ten years of hard work and commitment he has dedicated to Lookers.

His passion for the motor industry has contributed to Lookers being recognised as one of the most reputable companies in the sector.”

Prior to joining Lookers in 2000, Bruce, who was born and still lives in Glasgow, was UK sales director for Land Rover. He was appointed to the Lookers board in 2002.
