Cambria reopens former Lythgoe business under new name

Cambria Automobiles has bought the Lythgoe Motor Group business in Bolton from the administrators Zolfo Cooper.

The Mazda and Fiat dealership was closed at the beginning of December.

Cambria bought the new and used car business for an undisclosed sum and began trading today with the new name, Bolton Motor Park.

Mark Lavery, Cambria’s chief executive, said: “The Mazda side of the business is well-established, having been there for 32 years, and we have high expectations of the four-year-old Fiat franchise. The site is very high profile and in the past has been successful – we believe we will make it successful once more.”

He said the Manchester Road business is also a “good fit” with Cambria’s existing representation in the north west, which includes sites in Oldham, Preston, Warrington and Bury.

Bolton Motor Park is forecast to sell 350 new Mazdas in 2010 and 300 Fiats. Used vehicle sales are expected to total around 800.

The purchase means Cambria now has five Fiat and two Mazda sites.

The majority of the former Lythgoe site’s staff have been employed at Bolton Motor Park. General manager for the site is Darren Hill, who joined Cambria from Arnold Clark Automobiles.

Lythgoe ceased trading with the closure of sites in Bolton, Rochdale, Wardley and Oldham in December. A Citroen dealership, also in Bolton, was bought by the BCC Group before the administrators were called in.

Zolfo Coopers said the Lythgoe business had started to improve, but the turnaround in fortunes had come too late to prevent the business filing for administration.
