A dealer has received a suspended prison sentence for falsifying the mileage of 22 vehicles.

He bought them from British Car Auctions in Preston during 2007, changed the mileages, falsified service books and sold them on through West Coast Motor Auctions, making £10,000 profit.

In total he had knocked 1,204,351 miles off the cars.

Asif Seriwala, of Preston, admitted 16 counts of applying false descriptions and asked for 32 further offences to be considered.

He was given a year's jail, suspended for two years, plus 200 hours community work and ordered to pay £6,550 costs.
