Honda will open its second eco-site next year in North London.
Construction work in Colindale – an open point – is expected to begin in the summer.

The carmarker appointed Pick Everard to design the showroom, which will achieve a very good or excellent Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) rating.

The showroom will have 683 square metres for displaying cars.

Existing offices will be demolished and replaced with a new, double-height car showroom. Warehouse and workshop buildings will be kept and refurbished for vehicle workshop, office and ancillary areas.

Outside, there will be parking spaces for customers, with green planted screens between different parking areas to provide an attractive backdrop to the vehicles, said Pick Everard.

Ground source heat pumps, rainwater harvesting, waste water recycling and under-floor heating, among other measures, will work towards achieving the BREEAM rating. A Honda spokesman said it was currently in talks with a dealer group to run the site.

The spokesman added that BREEAM was a good fit for Honda, but had to suit the dealer concerned as well as customers.
Honda already has one dealership with a BREEAM rating: Inchcape Honda in Romford, Essex.
