Arnold Clark has made key recovery experts at Keycare as its exclusive provider of key insurance for new and used car customers in the UK.

Arnold Clark will offer its customers key cover for up to £1,500 for replacement of any lost or stolen keys, including call out charges and costs such as re-programming immobilisers, as part of the partnership with the Yorkshire-based business.

The new partnership also sees the introduction of a branded Arnold Clark Insurance Services key fob, which offers a £10 reward for finders and should follow Keycare’s finding that such fobs generate a 40% recovery rate for lost or stolen keys.

Eileen McFadden, general manager for Arnold Clark Insurance Services, said: “Losing your keys can cause great anxiety and inconvenience, so the peace of mind that this cover offers is significant.

“We chose Keycare because of their experience and knowledge working for the likes of Adrian Flux, Endsleigh and Forces Insurance and because of their exceptional claims and customer service.”

David Robertson, chief executive of Keycare, added: “Replacing the average car lock set now costs £689, although some models now cost over £1,000 to replace.

“Given that nearly half (40 per cent) of us have lost our keys in the last five years, we know that customers value our product very highly.  It’s a relatively low-cost way for organisations to improve customer loyalty and goodwill.”
