The number of RAC approved network dealers has doubled from 90 to more than 180 in less than a year.

Dealers in the RAC approved network are authorised to sell cars and vans under the RAC BuySure used vehicle initiative.

RAC says approved network members have sold 13,500 units under the BuySure banner so far this year.

RAC BuySure sees dealers commit to an 82-point RAC Approved Preparation Standard on every vehicle, a car data check, and a minimum of three months of RAC Warranty cover. In support of this, the RAC provides 12 months’ complimentary RAC breakdown cover and enrolment for the customer in to RAC Accident Care at no extra cost.

Mario Dolcezza, RAC head of dealer propositions, said: “RAC BuySure has been developed specifically to provide used car customers with a used car proposition, available nationally, that sets very high standards and is open to all kinds of dealers.

“However, the additional work that dealers undertake to meet these standards is rewarded with customers who are prepared to pay a little more for a vehicle of this quality. Our research indicates additional unit chassis profits of £200-300.”

Dolcezza said much care has gone into ensuring that only dealers who were willing to commit to representing the RAC brand with the appropriate respect and enthusiasm for customer service had been recruited to the network.

He said: “Our policy has always been to allow only the right dealers, those who share our commitment to delivering the very best customer experience, to join the programme and we have increasingly seen interest from businesses of this calibre over the last few months.”
