Purpose of the role:

Your job will be to manage a sales team who sell finance related products in a given geographical region. You will be expected, by applying a high degree of sales activity and sales management skills, to grow the dealer base with new business through the acquisition of new motor dealers along with organic growth in selected supporting dealers.

You will need to manage key relationships and develop them to their maximum potential. To be successful in the role you must be a self-motivated individual who has excellent planning and organisational skills. You need to be a good communicator with strong influencing skills encouraging dealers to increase the penetration levels of motor finance business and to increase revenue; you will also have the ability to negotiate rates, terms and funding packages with your dealer partners. Finally you be responsible for implementing the branch sales strategy and successfully driving it forward to support the branch in its short, medium and long term growth plans.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop a Sales strategy for each area in the territory in order maximise the opportunity available to the business –  this will include a detailed business plan per person along with a branch strategic document with key milestones & timings
  • Ensure Dealer Relationships perform to a margin quality and efficiency target
  • Ensure that dealer funding levels are in-line with company expectations
  • To ensure sales  targets are achieved by product type within Cars & LCV dealers to the set KPIs – along with the business delivering the overall business budget
  • Lead Business Development of significant accounts across all products with the sales team
  • Improve relationship management to ensure retention & growth of existing accounts
  • Strategically canvas dealers that fit the purpose and scope required by CBMF
  • To identify opportunities within the market to develop our lending proposition and act as an expert on this area
  • Support branch operations and ensure that co-operative relationships are maintain between the sales team and internal team
  • Ownership of branch funding strategy and acquisition of new funded dealer accounts, management of existing funded dealer accounts to ensure that the business has minimum risk exposure
  • Develop market intelligence to inform on products, promotion and pricing decisions
  • Assess, identify and mitigate risks and ensure compliance to applicable internal policies and external regulations e.g. FCA/Money Laundering/Data Protection
  • Develop strong CBMF dealer relationships to ensure that our business partner relationships deliver the correct level into the business
  • Management of all monthly sales appraisal via company documentation along with agreed actions plan


  • Recruit, train and employ high calibre employees within budget, headcount levels and temporary resource requirements
  • Coach, mentor, and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities
  • Provide oversight and direction to employees in accordance with the firm's policies, procedures, standards and SLAs
  • Hold regular one-to-ones with direct reports ensuring that feedback is provided in a constructive way whilst working with the employee to facilitate personal development
  • Ensure that an effective performance review is operated in line with department guidelines, including setting objectives, personal development planning and performance standards with all direct reports
  • Working with the Head of Sales and HR Business Partner, develop a culture of performance management, improvement and appraisal as a foundation for excellent organisational performance
  • Manage all departmental HR issues including monitoring absenteeism, and managing any capability and disciplinary issues
  • Ensure that team members complete online training when required and are kept abreast of any internal communications

Risk & Compliance:

Ensure that all Governance and Compliance requirements are adhered to and all reporting and reviewing activities required by the Regulatory Bodies are carried out to the standards required.

Education and Qualifications:

Field Sales Management experience within Financial Services or the Motor Industry

Educated to GCSE standard with Maths and English at grade C or above (or equivalent)
