Due to the imminent retirement of the group’s Operations Director, we are delighted to offer an outstanding opportunity to join a privately owned, dynamic and progressive group based in the West Country.
Our client’s business is financially strong with excellent gearing, whilst benefiting from continued investment in its people, premises and following recent acquisitions, its franchise base.
Started in 1972, by the present family, the group has developed into ten dealerships, representing six franchises, situated across Somerset and Dorset. Turnover for the group this year will be in excess of £90 million, with staff of 200.
The owner is looking for an outstanding leader with a proven and successful career at a senior level within the motor retailing sector.
Demonstrating a high level of drive and ambition, the successful candidate will be prepared to take the group forward in both the development of its employees, its customer experience and its revenue, to produce profits consistent with the upper quartile in motor retailing.
The importance of this role is demonstrated by the opportunity following a successful period of employment to achieve the position of Joint Managing Director
•To work closely with the Managing Director to ensure that the Company is run effectively.
• To oversee the management of personnel and operations of the entire Group ensuring that all volume and profit targets are met.
•To provide through the Senior Management Team a high level of customer satisfaction and retention.
•To work with the Directors and Senior Managers to shape and implement plans for the strategic development and success of the Group.
•To work with the Group’s franchise partners to maintain and develop excellent working relationships and maximise profitability.
•To oversee through the Franchise Directors all marketing activity including, web, digital and Customer Relationship Marketing.
•To maintain and develop through effect HR processes, the Company’s philosophy of staff development and retention.
•Extensive Automotive Experience at a Senior Management/Director level. PLC experience would be an advantage.
• Experience in dealing with manufacturers on a multi-franchise basis
•Candidate must be prepared to relocate to the West Country once the probationary period has been completed.
•An extensive financial knowledge and operational understanding of budgeting, P & L and balance sheet.
• Must have a proven track record of ability for strategic change and improvement
•A sound understanding of marketing including digital, web and CRM
• A strong and driven leader with the ambition and commitment to take the business forward
• Well-developed interpersonal skills with a customer focused approach.
