Founded in 1905, BEN, is the national charity which cares for 15,000 people connected with the automotive and related industries, either in their own home by providing help, support, advice and friendship or by providing care in one of our five residential and daycare centres.
Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager and working as part of the Marketing and Communications team the post-holder will develop, implement, monitor and evaluate, BEN's Press strategy in conjunction with the Marketing and Communications Manager.
This will involve extensive liaison with all Head Office Departments, Nursing and Residential Centre staff, League of Friends (a volunteer group) and external to BEN, various supporting organisations, agencies and publications/journals.
You will be expected to cultivate and build relationships with media contacts on an individual basis and research and compile a database of industry organisations' internal publications, establishing a programme of regular inserts into these. Other responsibilities of this varied role include writing and distributing press and news releases, assisting in the development of targeted campaigns and attending events and occasions when necessary.
The successful applicant will possess a degree in a relevant field such as Marketing, PR, English or Journalism together with some experience of media relations. An understanding of the motoring and related industries is a requirement for the role.
This is a part-time post, working 3 days per week, however some evening and weekend working may be required to attend BEN functions or to provide off-site support.
