Manchester-based RRG, the Toyota/Lexus and Peugeot group, has returned pre-tax profits of £2.1m for 1999 on a turnover of £150m, despite tough trading conditions late in the year.

RRG sold 3,500 new Toyota and 600 Lexus cars last year, more than any other group representing the twinned marques. Its six Toyota outlets in the North-west account for 4% of new Toyotas sold in the UK. RRG has four Peugeot dealerships in the region.

The group has opened three new dealerships - for Lexus in Manchester and Bolton, and Peugeot in Manchester.

Chairman Michael Smyth said: “In the last three months we have completed a £5m investment programme in anticipation of future volume increases. We are forging close partnerships with manufacturers.

“Provided the product is right, there will always be a place for good quality dealerships.”
