The Hyundai Trajet and Kia Sedona are popular with large families and private hire drivers alike. What these big MPVs lack in character, they more than make up for in equipment and ease of ownership.

The Trajet starts at less than £12,000 for a 00X 2.0 GSi ; the better equipped 2.7 V6 with alloy wheels, electric sunroof, fog lamps and leather trim is £14,000 upwards for an O1Y 10,000-mile car.

Sedona starts at around £10,500 for a 2.5-litre V6 S on OOX; a 2.9 TD SX is £14,000-plus on 01Y. A 13,000-mile 01Y 2.5 V6 GSX is around £14,500 for a 00W at a Kia dealer. The 2.9 TD models are far more popular than the thirstier petrol-engined Sedonas.

Both Trajet and Sedona are scarce away from main dealers, who have the best choice of cars but tend to ask £500-£1000 more for warranted examples.
