Five figures from the automotive industry have been recognised in the New Year’s Honours list for their achievements.

Managing director of Honda UK and executive vice-president Honda Motor Europe Ken Keir received an OBE for services to the motor industry.

“This is a great honour not just for me but for everyone at Honda, both in Swindon and Slough, in recognition of the tremendous effort everyone has put into growing Honda’s business,” says Keir, a member of the AM senior advisory panel.

His career in the motor industry spans more than 30 years, starting on the shop floor and rising to one of the most senior positions within the European division of the Japanese car manufacturer.

Also honoured were William Buckley, director for operator licensing for VOSA, and Michael Wear, chair of the Vehicle Crime Reduction Action Team, who both receive OBEs for public service.

David Wood, VOSA’s vehicle inspector, and Bryan Lunn, chief examiner, Institute of Advanced Motorists, received MBEs for their services to motoring.
