Workshops are ignoring a potential revenue opportunity by not making air-conditioning filters part of the check list for a service.

Steve Jarnett, Corteco head of UK sales, believes a lot of workshops leave them out because they take too much time to find and install.

Corteco is offering charts with its cabin filters which show how much time it will take to change filters on different models of car.

The car parts supplier is also sending out marketing posters with its cabin filters which appeal to customers’ concerns over health. The posters show a family with the slogan: “Does your car breathe cleaner air than you?”

It’s this message that Corteco wants workshops to push to customers in order to make more of a personal connection.

Steve Jarnett, Corteco head of UK sales, said: “There’s no ramps and no fluids involved so it’s a fast-fit opportunity.

“Technicians can remove the filter and as soon as a customer sees the build up of particles on the filter it’s a good tool to convince them to give the go-ahead to change it.”
