Petrol forecourt owners need to take better care of their tyre pressure airlines to ensure the highest possible safety for drivers, according to tyre safety organisation TyreSafe.

In a recent poll, the organisation found 60% of motorists were unable to check their tyre pressures because of faulty equipment.

With almost three quarters of cars in the UK on under-inflated tyres, it said limited access to functional airlines is costing costing thousands of pounds in wasted fuel, increasing carbon emissions and putting lives at risk.

TyreSafe has advised all forecourt owners to regularly check the condition of their airlines to help improve on their “sub-standard condition” and improve driver safety.
