From the end of the month Proton dealers will park a new saloon alongside the Gen-2 hatch in their showrooms.

The Gen-2 Persona is a four door saloon version of the five-door hatchback Gen-2 which has been on sale since 2004.

The GEN-2 Persona is powered by a 110bhp 1.6-litre Lotus engineered Campro engine. All manual transmission models have a five-speed gearbox, with a four-speed automatic option also available.

The highlights of its specification list are climate control, reverse parking sensors and an MP3-capable CD-player. Other aspects are pretty standard fayre: front and rear electric windows, driver and passenger airbags, ABS with EBD and power assisted steering.

The GEN-2 Persona will be available in UK Proton dealerships from the end of March 2008 with Proton offering £1000 discount off the £10,795 (manual) and £11,595 (auto) on the road price.
