Subaru has unveiled a concept crossover which could slot into its range beneath the current Forester SUV.
The XV Concept is launched today at the Shanghai motor show and Subaru claims its defines a new generation of crossover, blending proper SUV practicality with fashionable design.
"The XV Concept has been specifically designed for customers seeking a vehicle offering the looks, benefits and packaging that stretch beyond the existing choice of crossover models," said the Japanese carmaker.
Features of the XV include a panorama type roof of continuous glass, a large touch-panel multi-information display in the centre panel to give the driver easy control over navigation and audio systems as well as directly displaying vehicle information, plus Subaru’s advanced driver support system EyeSight features, with an LCD monitor positioned between the two well-balanced and highly visible combination meters to allow the driver to check the images captured with the EyeSight’s stereo cameras.
The concept has a 2.0-litre boxer engine and CVT transmission, and has similar dimensions to the current Forester.
