Review

Crucially, the top-selling 1.6-litre diesel emits under 99g/km of CO2 which makes it competitive when running costs come into consideration, particularly when factoring in the fact it is possible to do 74.3mpg.

It’s a very strong engine line-up with the 1.2-litre petrol providing a very sprightly driving experience due to being the lightest C-segment hatch on the market.

The biggest selling 1.6-litre diesel is also a competent choice offering plenty of torque, to the point of almost making the low-powered and more expensive 2.0-litre diesel option redundant.

With its slightly lower price point than the competition, the Leon can compete with the best in class.

What’s been said about the Leon

Parkers

The new Leon has a great range of fuel efficient and low emitting engines, plenty of standard equipment and the interior is of a much better quality than the outgoing model.

Auto Express

It’s much classier than the car it replaces, both in terms of design and quality, and remains comfortable despite its sporting pretensions.

There are still some slight trim concerns, but the Leon feels very solid, particularly when you get out on the road where it soaks up big distances with ease.

What Car?

The Seat Leon is an impressive family car that’s practical, stylish and good to drive. Pick the right version, and it’s tough to beat for the money.

Auto Trader

The Leon still offers the great value and fun drive as before, but it has also taken a step upmarket. Its interior and equipment are now reasons to buy a Leon too, and it’s a serious contender in the fiercely fought hatchback sector.

Honest John

The Leon has always managed to mix high value with a feel-good factor and there’s plenty of that with this latest-generation car. Not only is it packed with kit, but there are plenty of details that make you feel you’ve bought something a little out of the ordinary.
