Vauxhall has managed to eke out 53.3mpg on the combined cycle and keep CO2 emissions below 140g/km with the EcoFlex variant of its Zafira MPV.

Those official figures put it best in class for environmental impact, marginally ahead of the VW Touran Bluemotion.

And it has done so without making it boring to drive.

The Exclusiv trim still looks modern when compared to some segment rivals and the Flex 7 seating system provides all the versatility a family motorist could need and is intuitive to use.

Two door handles and a roof aerial are the only bodywork items the GTC has in common with other Vauxhall Astras.
