Franchised dealers need to recruit more technicians, target increased retail work and address poor workshop utilisation to buck the trend of “an institutionalised acceptance of low overhead absorption”.
Car dealers showed their ability to adapt to challenging market conditions by achieving an average profit of £2,900 during December, ASE has reported.
The average UK motor dealer made a profit of £46,000 in June. This is an increase of £3,700 over the profit made in June 2016 despite the drop in registration figures compared to the prior year.
