Changes to block exemption regulations in on June 1, 2013 will grant car manufacturers more power over dealerships, but it’s not too late for dealers to protect their business from the changes ahead.

Andrew Borkowski, partner - corporate, at law firm Geldards and Jonathan Butler, partner at Geldards will help explain changes to the new BER to dealers attending the AM Financial Conference 2011 to give a clear understanding of what lies ahead.

The event will be held at the Oxford Belfry on November 15.

Borkowski will unravel the legal framework under the amended BER and Butler will examine the options open to dealerships following network termination by manufacturers and strategies to protect their businesses.

Experts from Grant Thornton will also be on hand at the conference to consider what form transactional activity might take in the automotive sector in the run up to the new BER changes.

Paul Burrows, principal, Grant Thornton Automotive Services and Daniel Taylor, partner, Grant Thornton Automotive Services, will talk about how freedom to sell a business to any current franchise holder is scheduled for change and what dealers looking to sell or grow by acquisition need to look out for.
