Mercedes-Benz has revealed the first pictures of its baby CLS concept ahead of the Beijing Motor Show.

The four-door Concept Style Coupé is close to being production ready Mercedes boss Dr Dieter Zetsche believes the new model will be strong enough to be a benchmark for other manufacturers to measure themselves against in the compact coupe segment.

The concept comes with a new four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with 211bhp and the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system.

The four-seat car is expected to cost from around £20,000 when it goes on sale and effectively is a replacement for the CLC coupé which was discontinued in the UK in 2010, but with four doors and four individual seats it's expected to have broader appeal.
