Fiat is closing in on 3% market share with a strategy of building new products within the successful 500 brand.

From the original concept, the range now extends to six models, including the new 500X crossover, supported by the Fiat Panda and Punto, along with people-carrier versions of its van range.

The extended choice is appealing to more customers, with Fiat achieving sales growth of nearly 12% last year to 67,162 units.

An increasingly important factor in this growth is the fleet market, reflected in the appointment of Francis Bleasdale to the newly created role of fleet and used car director.

As part of an ambitious five-year plan revealed by FCA boss Sergio Marchionne last year, European dealers can expect a sports car and compact saloon in 2015, compact hatch and estate, as well as a new 500 replacement in 2016, a C-segment crossover in 2017 and the replacement for the new Panda in 2018.

Note: Manufacturers administer the franchised contracts for cars and LCVs in different ways. Broadly, for some the contract to sell cars and LCVs is managed through a separate dealer contract. For others one contract covers both vehicle types.

AMi seeks to acknowledge the difference and reflect it in the count of each dealer groups total franchised outlets (franchised businesses) and sites (locations).

Fiat treats car and LCV sales as coming under separate contracts –AMi counts each individually.
