Richard Pepper, the former chief executive of failed smart repair firm Scuffs, has been appointed to a new high profile position.

Just months after the receivers were called in to handle the disposal of Scuffs Cosmetic Repairs, Pepper has been named by Haydock Finance as group chief executive.

The Blackburn-based finance and asset management firm already has links with the motor industry with its backing of Ignition Vehicle Management, the contract hire and leasing company.

Scuffs collapsed in November last year because of financial difficulty. Receivers Baker Tilly were called in by the directors, closing four Scuffs sites with the loss of 70 jobs. Autodax bought one of the Scuffs sites while Gemini Accident Repair Centres bought three outlets.
